Friends of the Mattapoisett C.O.A. (Formerly F.O.E.)

The Friends of the Mattapoisett C.O.A. (Formally Friends of the Elderly) was organized in 1990 as the fundraising arm of Council on Aging. The organization is a means of providing additional monies to carry out various social programs and events for seniors in Mattapoisett. The Friends of the Mattapoisett C.O.A. currently has 173 members as well as a Board of Directors consisting of 19 members. The Board meets on the first Friday of each month at 10am. at the Mattapoisett COA Center located at 17 Barstow Street, Mattapoisett. 

Now in its 25th year, some of the projects of Friends of the Mattapoisett C.O.A. over the years have included a $ 10,000 donation toward a van for the Mattapoisett Council on Aging, a large screen television set with a specially designed cabinet, purchase of a digital camera, copy machine, office furniture, defibrillators for two vans,and other office items. The Friends also supply the Center with coffee, tea, and other perishable supplies. 

The Friends of the Mattapoisett C.O.A. arrange and fund three parties each year. These parties include a Holiday Party, a St. Patrick’s Day Party and a Fall Party. The Friends of the Mattapoisett C.O.A. also hold several special fundraising efforts each year, to include an annual dance party, Easter pie sales, apron sales, etc. The Friends welcomes new fundraising ideas to benefit its cause.
