Fire Apparatus

Chief 1	Chief 1:  2016 Chevy Tahoe Command Vehicle and is assigned to the Fire Chief Andrew Murray.
Unit 1	Unit 1: 2008 Ford F-150 Command Vehicle is utilized during the day shift to conduct fire safety inspections and is assigned to the weekend duty officer. Unit 1 is also used to transport firefighters to training seminars and to tow any of the departments trailers.
Engine Co. 1	Engine 1: 2012 Pierce Arrow XT Pumper with a 1,250 gpm pump and a 1000-gallon water tank. Engine 1 carries the Department's largest ladder at 35 feet and can reach most roof tops throughout town. Engine 1 is a front line piece and has seating for 5 firefighters (1 operator, 1 officer and 3 firefighters).
Engine Co. 2	Engine 2: 1989 Pierce Lance Pumper with a 1,250 gpm pump and a 1000-gallon water tank. Engine 2 is responds to all motor vehicle accidents along with Rescue 1. During the winter months, Engine 2 carries our ice rescue sled and responds first to all water related incidents. Engine 2 is the shortest Engine in our fleet and is especially effective when maneuvering through tight streets in the center of town as well as many of the small beach communities throughout Mattapoisett. Engine 2 has seating for 6 firefighters (1 operator 1 officer 4 firefighters).
Engine Co. 4	Engine 4: 1996 Pierce / International Pumper capable of pumping 1,250 gpm and carries 750 gallons of water. Engine 4 is the Department's “Special Hazards” unit and responds to all hazardous material incidents along with general alarm calls. Engine 4 also carries the equipment used for the Rapid Intervention Team. Engine 4 is equipped with 4-wheel drive and is capable of towing the departments rescue boat and hazardous material trailers. Engine 4 can hold 5 firefighters (1 operator 1 officer 3 firefighters).
Rescue Co. 1	Rescue 1: 2005 Pierce Contender / Ford F-550 Rescue Truck. Rescue 1 carries the Department's specialized tech rescue equipment and vehicle extrication tools, including the "Jaws of Life". Rescue 1 responds first to all rescue calls and motor vehicle accidents. It also carries hazardous materials containment equipment and has special high powered scene lights which are utilized to illuminate work areas. Rescue 1 has seating for 2 firefighters.
Forestry 1	Forestry 1: 2010 Ford F-350 Forestry Truck. Forestry 1 is utilized when fighting fires involving brush, grass and wooded areas inaccessible by a traditional fire engine. Forestry 1 is capable of pumping 250 gpm and carries 200 gallons of water along with specialized wildland firefighting tools.
Marine 1	Marine 1: Is a 27' refurbished Coast Guard safe boat with pumping capabilities. With an indoor cabin for 4 plus rescuers/victims. Marine 1 is our primary water response unit that stays in the water year round. Currently located at Barstow wharf.
Marine 2	Marine 2: is an aluminum hull fire rescue boat utilized during water emergencies both in our harbor and during mutual aid to neighboring towns. During the boating season, Marine 1 is docked in a mariner and ready to respond. In the off season it remains on its trailer and available.
	Trailer 1 2002 halmark trailer that stores quick response hazardous materials.
	Trailer 2: This trailer was assigned to the department through the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection and contains a wide selection of equipment used in the containment and clean-up for oil / fuel spills. Fire Department Headquarters: Located at 26 County Road was built in 1954 and continues to house all of the department's fire apparatus. The building has gone through many changes throughout the years to fit the needs of the growing fire service. The downstairs of the fire station, commonly called the 'apparatus floor' houses the departments three engine companies and one rescue company along with the firefighters gear lockers. Located on the second floor is the fire department dispatch / fire alarm room, kitchen, dayroom / training area and Chief / Administration offices. The dayroom / training area also serves as the department's bunk room during major events or storm coverage.
